Old elves

The elves of Arda has eternal lifes. But the history would look slightly different if they just grew very, very old..

One day in Lothlorien:

“Did you hear? They’ve found the Ring!”
“Huh?”
“What ring?”
“Sauron’s ring.”
“But wasn’t it destroyed?”
“Huh?”
“Wasn’t it (going through the whole family three) Elrond’s brother who had it?”
“But wasn’t it one of his sons? Who took the Ring?”
“Huh?”
“What ring?”
“Sauron’s ring!”
“Sauron?”
“Morgoth’s servant!”
“Huh?”
“Oh, I remember when we fought Morgoth! Those were the days..”
“Huh?”
“Anyway, Elrond had the Ring..”
“Not Elrond, his brother..”
“Huh?”
“What ring?”
“Sauron’s ring.”
“But you said just now that Elrond had this ring..?”
“Huh?”
“But Elrond can’t have this ring. He’s just a child. It was just the other day I found him and his brother in a cave..”
“No, that’s a long time ago. That was after the fall of Gondolin. Elrond is all grown up now.”
“How time flies..”
“Huh?”
“The fall of Gondolin? Never heard of, I think you’re just making this up! Have you grown silly in your old age?”
“No, I’m not making this up! I remember it like it was yesterday!”
“Huh?”
“Anyway, Elrond had the ring..”
“No, it was his brother!”
“No, it wasn’t, it was his son!”
“Huh?”
“No, it was one his other relatives. You know, his brother chose Manhood..”
(Silence)
“Manhood?”
“Huh?”
“Well, you know..”
“Well, yes.. Manhood..”
“But Elrond isn’t a Man! He’s an elf!”
“No, but his brother was!”
“Huh?”
“Anyway, they’ve found the Ring..”
“What ring?”
“Huh?”
